ROMEOVILLE, IL – A single fire sprinkler prevented a fire from spreading inside of a first-floor apartment unit. Romeoville Deputy Fire Marshal William Sterling said the fire was contained to the living room where the fire started. Outside of the residents who lived in the apartment, all others who live in the building were able to return to their units two hours after the fire.
“The sprinkler system likely saved the building from a catastrophic fire,” Sterling said. “One sprinkler prevented the fire from spreading beyond the area or origin.” No injuries were reported.
