LAGRANGE, IL – A single fire sprinkler contained a fire involving a metal dust collection bag near a milling machine at Billet Specialties, Inc., a major manufacturer of precision-machined automotive accessories and custom wheels. Employees tried to extinguish the burning material with a fire extinguisher. The sprinkler contained the fire. Firefighters deployed a handline to extinguish the remaining fire. No injuries were reported. “Fortunately, damage was minimal to the machine and surrounding equipment since the sprinkler system did its job,” said La Grange Fire Department Captain Brian Cramer. “Employees safely evacuated, the firefighters extinguished the small remnants of fire, and the business will be fully operational soon. This is another example the fire sprinkler systems save lives and property.”
