Hodgkins, IL – Two fire sprinklers extinguished a fire in a spray booth that was caused by a grinding machine. When crews arrived, the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported. The sprinkler system was back in service and business resumed the same day.

ROCKFORD, IL – A single fire sprinkler extinguished a fire in a third-floor apartment of a 14-story high-rise building. According to the Rockford Fire Department, when crews arrived, they found moderate smoke from the unit. The fire was extinguished by the sprinkler.
The fire was caused by careless smoking. No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

OSWEGO, IL – A fire sprinkler stopped a fire from spreading at Classic Cinemas Kendall 11 movie theater. According to Captain Alec Keenum, Oswego Fire Protection District, a faulty water heater in the boiler room on the second floor caused the fire. One fire sprinkler controlled the fire while people were evacuated.
“Due to good housekeeping habits and properly maintained and working sprinklers and fire alarm systems, a single sprinkler kept the fire in check and limited the spread to the room of origin while safely evacuating the near 800 patrons,” Keenum said.
One theater employee was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. The theater was open the next day.

SOUTH BARRINGTON, IL – A single fire sprinkler extinguished an arson fire at the Eggology restaurant inside The Arboretum of South Barrington.
According to Fire Inspector Marc Quattrocchi, East Dundee Fire District, “The sprinkler system did exactly as designed. If it did not activate, extinguish the fire, and scare away the perpetrators with the activation of the fire alarm system, more damage or injuries could’ve occurred.” No injuries were reported.

CHAMPAIGN, IL – Fire sprinklers stopped a fire from spreading at AMC Champaign 13 movie theater that appeared to be intentionally set. Fire department spokesperson Randy Smith said employees discovered smoke. When crews arrived, they discovered up to three sprinklers activated and extinguished the fire in the theater seats. No injuries were reported.

PEORIA, IL – Fire sprinklers stopped a fire from spreading in the laundry room of a Marriott hotel. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke in the laundry room. The fire sprinklers activated and an employee used a fire extinguisher to help put out the fire.
Peoria Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Strum said the fire was contained to the object of origin. The employee was treated for smoke inhalation. The hotel resumed normal operations.

BELVIDERE, IL – Fire sprinklers prevented a tractor trailer fire from spreading at the Stellantis Assembly Plant. Firefighters found the trailer on fire up against the building with the dock doors open. Firefighters were able to extinguish it in minutes. The sprinklers stopped the fire from spreading inside the building. No injuries were reported.

ROCKFORD, IL – A fire sprinkler stopped a kitchen fire from spreading in a fourth floor unit of a five-story senior living center. When fire crews arrived, they saw smoke rolling out of the fourth floor unit and the sprinkler controlling the fire.
Residents on the fourth floor were moved to lower floors, but there were no other evacuations. No injuries were reported.
