Deerfield, IL – A single fire sprinkler extinguished a garbage can fire in the kitchen of the Hot Pot & Sushi restaurant. The garbage can contained combustible products including paper, cardboard, food products and cooking oil.
No injuries were reported.

BATAVIA, IL – One sprinkler controlled a fire at PARAMCO, a printing equipment supplier, until firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire. According to Fire Marshal Tom Cote, Batavia Fire Department, the sprinklers prevented an estimated $99,100 in damages. No injuries were reported.

GRAYSLAKE, IL – Fire sprinklers contained a fire in a pile of recycled material inside a Waste Management facility. Once the fire was contained, employees were able to remove the smoldering material to the exterior of the building. There was no damage to the building. No injuries were reported.

ORLAND PARK, IL – A fire sprinkler controlled a fire at the Sandbox Preschool. Firefighters located the fire in the rear stairwell that extended to the second floor. Sprinklers kept the fire from spreading, crews deployed handlines and extinguished the remaining fire.
The preschool was undergoing renovations. The building was unoccupied. No injuries were reported,

CHAMPAIGN, IL – A single fire sprinkler extinguished a fire in a unit on the second floor of an apartment building. The fire may have been caused by a single-burner butane stove that did not operate correctly.
According to Deputy Fire Marshal Jeremy Mitchell, the damage was limited to the stove and adjacent content.

LAKE ZURICH, IL – A single fire sprinkler stopped a fire from spreading in a 10’ x 12’ apartment unit closet. According to Deputy Fire Marshal John Wiecek, Lake Zurich Fire Department, several cardboard boxes and clothes were in the closet. A single sprinkler kept the fire from spreading. A police officer also used a fire extinguisher.
One resident suffered minor eye irritation and inhaled some smoke.

GURNEE, IL – A fire sprinkler located in the attic of a restaurant at Six Flags Great America stopped a fire from spreading. The fire was running up the outside walls and travelled into the eaves and attic activating the sprinkler. When crews arrived, they extinguished the remaining fire.
The park was closed at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
