PEORIA, IL – A fire sprinkler extinguished a fire in the kitchen of Kenny’s Westside Pub. When the fire department arrived, two employees were outside and said there was a fire in the kitchen, but it was extinguished by the fire sprinkler.
No injuries were reported. The damage was estimated at $15,000. The business was expected to open after clean up.

BOLINGBROOK, IL – Fire sprinklers contained a fire at a Party City store. When the fire department arrived, they found the sprinklers stopped the fire in a display shelving unit from spreading. Crews were able to quickly extinguish flames. No injuries were report.

BENSENVILLE, IL – Fire Sprinklers held a fire in check at International Golden Foods. When crews arrived, they found a floor cleaning machine was on fire and smoke throughout the building. The sprinklers held the fire in check, firefighters were able to extinguish the remaining fire.
No one was working at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

WAUCONDA, IL – A single fire sprinkler stopped a fire from spreading in the kitchen of a second floor unit in a senior living apartment building. When crews arrived, they found a sprinkler controlling the fire and were able to extinguish the remaining fire and safely evacuate residents. The cause of fire was unattended cooking,
“The importance of the sprinkler system in this case is vital as it did not allow the fire to grow in size and aided in the assistance of extinguishing the fire,” Wauconda Fire District Division Chief DaValle said.
The Wauconda Fire District would like to remind residents to not leave cooking unattended. Five people were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

DES PLAINES, IL – Two fire sprinklers held a car fire in check in an apartment garage until the fire department arrived.
According to Des Plaines Fire Chief Dan Anderson, two sprinklers activated over the vehicle. That set off the building’s audible alarms notifying the occupants.
“The fire alarm system and sprinkler system worked exactly as they were supposed to.” Anderson said. “The fire was confined to the vehicle preventing extension to the building or other vehicles. The bulk of the damage was to the vehicle itself.”
Two residents were evaluated for smoke inhalation and one requested transport. The vehicle was removed and building management worked to get the fire alarm and sprinkler system back into service. Occupants were able to return to their units two hours after the fire was reported.

EAST DUNDEE, IL – A fire sprinkler contained a vehicle fire inside a commercial building. The East Dundee and Countryside Fire Protection District responded to the fire. They found smoke and the sprinkler controlling the fire. No injuries were reported.
