Fire Sprinkler Controls Restaurant Blaze

O’FALLON, IL – A single fire sprinkler controlled a fire at the Dogwood Social House entertainment center and restaurant. When crews arrived, they found light smoke in the front windows and water flowing under a back door. Upon entry, firefighters confirmed that a sprinkler activated and stopped a fire inside a basketball arcade game from spreading. Firefighters extinguished the remaining fire with two pressurized water cans.

The business was under renovation when the fire occurred and is expected to open within the original timeline. No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinklers Contain Truck Fire Inside Warehouse

ADDISON, IL – Fire sprinklers controlled a semi-truck fire that was inside of a warehouse. Fire crews from Addison Fire Protection District arrived at the scene to find the fire held in check by the sprinklers. Crews extinguished the remaining fire with one hoseline. No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinklers Extinguish Basement Fire in Home

STREAMWOOD, IL – 
Fire sprinklers extinguished a fire caused by a malfunctioned lithium battery inside the basement of a house. When crews arrived at the home, they found light smoke coming from a basement window and the fire was extinguished. There was no one in the home at the time of the blaze. No injuries were reported. Streamwood has required fire sprinklers in all new homes since 2002.

Fire Sprinkler Controls Fire at Paper Recycling Facility

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL – 
A single fire sprinkler stopped a fire from spreading at a paper recycling and shredding company. When crews arrived, they found moderate smoke and followed the sound of the activated sprinkler to the source of the fire. The area where the fire occurred contained large bundles and pallets of paper. Firefighters used their lines to make sure all hot spots were extinguished.

According to Fire Marshal Jason Staidl, Elk Grove Village Fire Department, without fire sprinklers, the building and all of its contents could have been a total loss. Instead, damages were held to a minimum and there was no disruption in business operations. No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinkler Controls Warehouse Fire

VERNON HILLS, IL – A fire sprinkler stopped a fire from spreading inside the AKG manufacturing and distribution warehouse. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found smoke inside building. The sprinkler was containing the fire, allowing the crew to extinguish the remaining fire. No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“The sprinkler prevented spread to adjacent rack storage and mezzanine areas in the compartment,” said Fire Marshal Eric Norlin, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District.  “Sprinkler operation allowed the business to begin recovery and get back to work within hours.”

Fire Sprinkler Controls Apartment Fire

ROMEOVILLE, IL – A single fire sprinkler prevented a fire from spreading inside of a first-floor apartment unit. Romeoville Deputy Fire Marshal William Sterling said the fire was contained to the living room where the fire started. Outside of the residents who lived in the apartment, all others who live in the building were able to return to their units two hours after the fire.

“The sprinkler system likely saved the building from a catastrophic fire,” Sterling said. “One sprinkler prevented the fire from spreading beyond the area or origin.” No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinklers Control Fire at Recycling Warehouse

Two fire sprinklers held a fire in check at a warehouse for recycled materials. When crews arrived, they found two sprinklers activated, keeping the fire from spreading. Firefighters were able to extinguish the remaining fire and cool the area. No injuries were reported. The sprinkler system was back in service and business resumed the same day.

Fire Sprinkler Extinguishes Apartment Fire in Rockford High Rise

July 8, 2022
ROCKFORD, IL – A single fire sprinkler extinguished a fire in a third-floor apartment of a 14-story high-rise building. According to the Rockford Fire Department, when crews arrived, they found moderate smoke from the unit. The fire was extinguished by the sprinkler.

The fire was caused by careless smoking. No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinkler Controls Fire In Movie Theater While 800 Patrons Safely Evacuate

OSWEGO, IL – A fire sprinkler stopped a fire from spreading at Classic Cinemas Kendall 11 movie theater. According to Captain Alec Keenum, Oswego Fire Protection District, a faulty water heater in the boiler room on the second floor caused the fire. One fire sprinkler controlled the fire while people were evacuated.

“Due to good housekeeping habits and properly maintained and working sprinklers and fire alarm systems, a single sprinkler kept the fire in check and limited the spread to the room of origin while safely evacuating the near 800 patrons,” Keenum said.

One theater employee was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. The theater was open the next day.

Fire Sprinkler Extinguished Restaurant Arson Fire

SOUTH BARRINGTON, IL – 
A single fire sprinkler extinguished an arson fire at the Eggology restaurant inside The Arboretum of South Barrington.

According to Fire Inspector Marc Quattrocchi, East Dundee Fire District, “The sprinkler system did exactly as designed. If it did not activate, extinguish the fire, and scare away the perpetrators with the activation of the fire alarm system, more damage or injuries could’ve occurred.” No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinklers Stop Arson Fire In Movie Theater

CHAMPAIGN, IL – Fire sprinklers stopped a fire from spreading at AMC Champaign 13 movie theater that appeared to be intentionally set. Fire department spokesperson Randy Smith said employees discovered smoke. When crews arrived, they discovered up to three sprinklers activated and extinguished the fire in the theater seats. No injuries were reported.
