GLENDALE HEIGHT, IL – A single fire sprinkler extinguished a kitchen fire at the Ellyn Crossing Apartments. A resident was attempting to boil a cleaning liquid on the stove when it caught fire. The pot was moved to the sink where the fire sprinkler activated and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. Fire Marshal Michael Gross of the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District said they are thankful that the resident was unharmed and was able to stay in their unit. “This is a great example of how a well-maintained residential sprinkler system works to keep residents safe,” he said.
