Fire Sprinklers Control Fire at Nursing Home

LACON, IL – Fire sprinklers controlled a fire in the kitchen ceiling of a rehab and nursing facility. Crews arrived and found heavy smoke. They located a fire in the kitchen ceiling that was fueled by a flowing gas line and controlled by fire sprinklers. The cause of the fire was accidental, caused by a contractor. All residents were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived. One resident experienced a medical episode following the evacuation and was transported to the hospital.

Fire Sprinkler Controls Convenience Store Fire

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL – A single fire sprinkler controlled a fire in a multi-tiered sandwich refrigerator display at a 7-Eleven store. The display malfunctioned causing the fire. The fire sprinkler held the fire to the area of origin while the fire crew extinguished the remaining flames. “The sprinkler system prevented the fire from extending to the other three businesses within the multi-unit strip mall,” said Fire Inspector and Investigator Joe McEnery, Elk Grove Village Fire Department. “The businesses that were not affected by the fire were back in operation the same day. The affected business was back in business within five days.”

Fire Sprinkler Controls Garment and Textile Cleaning Facility Fire

ROMEOVILLE, IL – A single fire sprinkler controlled a textile material fire at Cintas Uniform Services. Firefighters arrived to find a haze inside the facility and located four bins of burning textile material controlled by a single sprinkler. According to Battalion Chief William Sterling, Romeoville Fire Department, given the extensive textile fuel load, the automatic fire sprinkler system controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading significantly before crews arriving. No injuries were report.

Fire Sprinklers Control Auto Body Shop Fire

WAUKEGAN, IL – Fire sprinklers controlled a vehicle fire inside the Maaco Auto Body Shop & Painting. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke. They deployed hose lines to extinguish the vehicle fire. All employees safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinkler Extinguishes Restaurant Fire

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL – A single fire sprinkler extinguished a kitchen fire inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace at the Teriyaki Chopper restaurant. A gas line attached to a cooker broke. The gas was ignited by an open flame on the cooktop grill. Employees and patrons were evacuated from the restaurant safety. No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinklers Extinguish Apartment Fire

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL – Fire sprinklers extinguished a fire in a third-floor unit at Cunat Apartments. Firefighters successfully rescued a dog and cat from the affected unit and safely reunited them with their family.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. No injuries were reported.

Fire Sprinklers Extinguish Hotel Candle Fire
July 1, 2026
LIBERTYVILLE, IL – Fire sprinklers extinguished a fire in a second-floor room at the Sonesta Simply Suites hotel. The fire was caused by a candle igniting clothes. Fire crews evacuated guests. After confirming the fire was extinguished, guests were allowed to return to their rooms, except for two rooms affected by the fire. No injuries were reported.
